Fireworks

Yesterday we took advantage of, what John calls, "another perk from living in Missouri": we bought a bunch of fireworks, since it's illegal in California probably because under uncontrolled conditions, the whole state would go up in flames.

At first, a few weeks ago when we saw the tents I thought it was one of those termite tents that go over houses, then I thought it might be a circus... But then I learned that right before the 4th, a BUNCH of them come up to sell fireworks... they just seem to sprout everywhere!!!

We spent a grand total of $8.50 in fireworks, yeah you read right, it's not a typo, it's NOT 80.50, it was 8.50 :-D Mostly because we thought it was going to be more (but they were on sale, buy one get 4 free!!!) and because I'm a wuzz, so I didn't want to have a lot of gun powder in our car...

On our way to Bill's and Stepanie's (about 15 miles) I took a few pictures of some of the other fireworks tents :-) And I even missed a couple of them!!!

Oh yeah... Funny story: I walked out to take a picture of the outside of the tent and the sign that says that you can blow fireworks between July 2nd and the 5th, legally (couldnt' post them because for some reason it's getting copied upside-down) while John was paying, next thing I know John is saying: "Sorry man, I thought it was a tip cup"... The guy at the cash register had his drink up on the tall counter, and John, trying to be nice, gave the guy a tip... inside his drink :-D

Ayer aprovechamos lo que John llama "uno de los beneficios de vivir en Missouri": compramos cohetes, ya que es ilegal en California, probablemente porque sin control, todo el estado arderia en llamas.

Hace unas semanas, cuando empece a ver las carpas primero pense que era una de esas carpas que ponen para erradicar las termitas en las casas, luego pense que tal vez era un circo, pero despues me dijeron que un poco antes del 4 de julio empiezan a poner estas carpas para vender cohetes... y parece que salen de abajo de las piedras!!!

Gastamos la gran cantidad de $8.50 si, leyeron bien, no fue error de dedo ni fueron 80.50, fueron 8.50 :-D Principlamente porque pensamos que iba a ser mas (pero habia una especial de compre 1 lleve 4 gratis) y porque a mi me da miedillo tener tanta polvora en el carro...

Y de camino a la casa de Bill y Stephanie le tome fotos a otras carpas que estan ahi, y eso que viven a solo 15 millas de nosotros!!! Y hasta me faltaron 2 que 3!!!

Ah si, una historia chistosa: yo me sali a tomar unas fotos de la carpa y del letrero que dice que es legal prender cohetes de 2 al 5 de julio (no las pude postear porque por algun motivo se estaban pegando al reves) mientras John pagaba, cuando lo oi: "perdon compa pense que era tu vaso para propinas"... El wey en la caja registradora tenia su bebida en la barra que estaba medio alta,y John, tratando de ser buena onda, le dio una propina adentro de su soda :-S
