Marley's Surgery

I can't believe I haven't posted in over a month!!! I've been busy, but I didn't think I was THAT busy... I guess I have been :-S It's not like I had one big thing that kept me from blogging, but I have been working a bit longer hours and I've been more tired after work, plus I've gotten more involved in some activities at Church...

Although I did "switch jobs" in the middle of April... A promotion of sorts... I now work for a different department and report to one of the department's directors in Chicago. I'm very happy about this change and excited about the projects I'm working on :-)

On March 30, we finally got Marley's surgery done... I'm not sure if you remember (if you don't, you can read about it here and here), but she has had knee problems for almost 2 years now :-( And since it had become obvious that the right one was giving her problems almost every day now, specially since I was walking them almost daily back in October/November, we decided it was time to do it.

We went to Dr. Mark Anderson at Veterinary Specialty Services here in St. Louis and he did a wonderful job. Two weeks and a few days after the surgery they removed Marley's cast, and she can't wait to go back to her normal activities. We have a follow up appointment on May 10, for X-Rays and a check up, and if everything goes well, she should be released then to start light walks. It's been a challenge to keep her from running and jumping, but we can already tell that her leg feels much better already :-)

March 31. Right after we brought her home after the surgery.

My poor puppy got an epidural.

I took this one on April 16 at the hospital right after the took off her cast.

Marley has a guilty conscious... so she often thinks she's in trouble :-)

Her big scar. The vet told us that a piece of cartriladge flew out as soon as he made the incision, and that he was surprised that she wasn't limping more :-(

Welcome back, Pilar! Marley has really been through an ordeal lately! Hopefully this surgery will allow her to live pain-free.
