May's Book Club

This month I hosted Book Club at our apartment, we had a very nice time (I had prepared Nachos, quiche and cream cheese with sauce, and had some baby carrots and cookies available), and John even helped me vacuum and went to the store to get some of the food for me to make sure everything was ready (he's so sweet!!!) we talked a lot and laughed like always... Marley REALLY wanted to participate and "talked" A LOT!!! It was VERY funny!!!

And, for a change, we talked about the book A LOT!!! LOL Great times!!!

The book last month was "The Glass Castle" and for this month we'll be reading "Bitter is the new black".

Este mes el Club de Lectura fue en mi departamento, nos la pasamos muy bien (yo habia preparado Nachos, quiche y queso creama con salsa, y teniamos zanahorias y galletas), hasta John me ayudo a aspirar y a ir a comprar algunas de las cosas que necesitaba para que todo estuviera lista (es tan dulce!!!), platicamos mucho y nos reimos como siempre... Marley tenia MUCHAS ganas de participar y estuvo "hablando" MUCHO!!! Fue muy chistoso!!!

Y, contrario a otras ocasiones, hablamos MUCHO del libro!!! Jajaja

El libro el mes pasado fue "El castillo de cristal"... Y el nuevo va a ser "Amargada es el nuevo negro".

The Glass Castle: This book was pretty upseting because it's a memoir, I was pissed off most of the time while I was reading it, I was very upset with the parents... I thought I hadn't liked the book because of all the "us kids" and "we kids", which, I guess, I still dislike, but the book in general was very interesting and it makes you be thankful for what you have, and, in my case, for my mom and her own family history. In the end, like Amanda said, you realize that despite all the craziness, the parents REALLY loved their children and thought they were doing the best for them and, I guess, the fact that the kids could see the love through all the crap helped them cope with the situations they faced.

El castillo de cristal: Este libro te hace sentir muy triste porque es una memoria (o sea, paso de verdad), yo me la pase enojada la mayor parte del tiempo mientras lo estuve leyendo, en especial con los papas... Y primero pense que no me habia gustado el libro porque menciono millones de veces la frase "nosotros los ninos", lo cual, creo, todavia no me convence, pero el libro en general es interesante y te hace valorar lo que tu tienes, y en mi caso, a mi mama y su propia historia familiar. Al final, como dijo Amanda, te das cuenta que a pesar de todas las locuras los papas realmente amaban a sus hijos y realmente pensaban que estaban hacidno lo mejor para ellos y, yo creo, el hecho de que los ninos podian ver ese amor a traves de todo el desmadre les ayudo a sobrellevar las situaciones que enfrentaron.
