St. Francis Pet Blessing

I took the girls to church this morning :-) YES, I said church!!! It's been something that I've wanted to do for a while but not all churches do it and I wasn't able to make it the 1 other time I had a chance to (plus, I only had Mia at that time).

Basically they do a blessing of pets on or close to St. Francis of Assisi's Day (Oct. 4), since he really believed that we are ALL God's creatures, and even called animals brothers and sisters (like brother wolf, sister turtle).

There were about 100 dogs, plus some cats and I even saw some hamsters and Guinea Pigs :-)

At the end they had pretzel sticks for the parents and dog treats for the pets, it was fun and it gave me another opportunity to socialize the girls, they behaved wonderfully!!!

Hoy en la manana lleve a las perras a la iglesia :-) SI, leyeron bien, a la iglesia!!! Habia sido algo que tenia tiempo queriendo hacer pero no todas las iglesias lo hacen y la unica vez que tuve la oportunidad de ir no pude (ademas de que nada mas tenia a Mia en ese entonces).

Basicamente es una bendicion que hacen en o cerca del dia de San Francisco de Asis, quien creia que TODOS somos creaturas de Dios y hasta llamaba a los animales hermanos (como hermano lobo o hermana tortuga).

Habia como 100 perros, mas algunos gatos y hasta unos hamsters y conejillos de Indias mire :-)

Al final dieron palitos de pretzels para los papas y galletas para perro para las mascotas, las perras se la pasaron muy bien, y fue otra oportunidad para socializar a las perras, se portaron maravillosamente!!!

And then it was our turn, the deacon said a brief prayer on each of the girls basically asking God to give them a long life and that they provide a lot of joy to their family.

Oh, and now I can relate a little bit to my friends that have babies: I got up super late, so I put on what ever I found first and I thought about doing my hair in the car, but forgot... until after they took the photo :-S

Y cuando fue nuestro turno el diacono dijo una oracion breve por cada una de las ninas, basicamente pidiendole a Dios que les conceda una larga vida y que provean mucha felicidad a su familia.

Ah, y ahora me puedo identificar un poco con mis amigas que tienen bebes: me levante super tarde y me puse lo primero que encontre, pense en peinarme en el carro, pero se me olvido... hasta despues de que tomaron la foto :-S
